Gakkougurashi! / School-Live!

Gakkougurashi!

Yuki Takeya is a 3rd grader in Megurigaoka Private High School. Even though she is known as a not-so-brilliant student and loves to sleep during the lesson, she loves her school life a lot, especially after she joined the School Living Club. While it may seems weird, the club that only consists of 4 people aside from her, the president Yuuri Wakasa, the athletic Kurumi Ebisuzawa, the mature junior Miki Naoki, their supervising teacher Megumi Sakura, and a dog named Taroumaru were spending the time living in the school and trying to enjoy their life there at its best.

At first I have no idea at all of why I decided to watch this series, or what is it about, and to be honest if you want to watch this anime, it is better to be totally clueless at first as this anime has a very surprising twist at its very first episode. Of course, that makes it hard for me to give a review without spoiling the fun of those who haven’t watched it. Yet, I will try.

For the story, apart from the surprising twists (yes, there are more than one), it is actually pretty much so-so if you compare it to other high school life anime. However, of course, saved by those twists, this anime becomes interesting to watch. You can also see the different personalities from each character while they are developing their own way. However, the timeline is almost stagnant because there are a lot of flashbacks that tells us the story of the characters’ background. That is also why I think second season is pretty much waited to see how the story really progress.

To the music part, the songs are good, not great, but good enough. The BGMs of the series are not what you will call as masterpiece, but they support the series well. As for the visual art is what you will find in most moe anime with cute petite girls and cute dog. But still, there is nothing special too about the visual art. After all, Gakkougurashi is still a good anime and enjoyable to watch and as I said, don’t expect anything and let yourself be surprised.
