Mushishi

Mushishi

Back to anime. Mushishi is an interesting anime and you can watch it randomly and at a slow pace. In this review, I’m talking about both seasons (Mushishi and Mushishi Zoku Shou) because there is no difference, except for the op and ed songs. You can also include the OVA (Mushishi special: Hihamukage), because, once again, there is no difference.

Mushishi is an anime about a traveler named Ginko, a Mushi-shi, who is going on a research about Mushi, the most basic form of life that can exists in many forms and have the ability to copy a lot of phenomenon in the world like plants and diseases. While Mushi-shi are those who research about Mushi, and in some case, kill them. Through his journey, Ginko help many people who have cases related to Mushi.

There isn’t much review can be done for this one because every episode has its own story. That is why I said that you could watch it in a random order, well maybe after the first episode. All I can say that Mushishi is a beautiful anime. Every story has its own morale value that we can learn from and the concept of “Mushi” itself is very unique and interesting. I find the art is also pleasing with classic theme and soft colours. The BGMs and OSTs are also very relaxing. For the characters, Ginko is, well, Ginko. He is a simple human with all of his plus and minus and that’s what makes him interesting.

However I won’t say that this anime is perfect tho. For me, I am very pleased with Mushishi, but some people may find it pretty boring because there isn’t any plot that leads to the big conflict or problem. There aren’t much difference too between many character designs, except for Ginko of course, and some supporting characters that appear more than once. Still, this anime is very worth to see.

Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad Poster

Okay. So, this is my first non-anime review and I hope that I can give you a good review. Of course, I won’t spoil a thing because it will make you miss the fun, especially if you haven’t watched the movie.

The name “Suicide Squad” must have been familiar for those who love DC comics. Personally, I love this squad better than the justice league because villains are cooler. There are some differences from the comic (just like most adaptation movies), so I will just talk about the movie and not comparing between the two.

Suicide Squad is a special squad consists of most dangerous imprisoned villains, Harley QuinnDeadshotBoomerangKiller CrocEl Diablo, and Slipknot, secretly made by the government, by the proposal of Amanda Waller and under the supervision of Rick Flag. This squad was made after the death of Superman to participate in dangerous missions in exchange for clemency.

Let’s start the review with the good things from this movie. For me, this is one of the most anticipated movies in 2016 and I generally think this movie is good. Most of the casts portray the character very well. At first, I was pretty pessimistic with Margot Robbie because even if Harley Quinn is a crazy, annoying character it will spoil the fun if Robbie overdo it, however, she didn’t. She did it just right and I am pretty much satisfied by her act. If you have watched the trailers before, you will also see a lot of Harley Quinn scenes, but don’t worry because she doesn’t dominate the whole movie.

Another thing I love from this movie is the soundtracks and the visual arts. The songs just fit in with the story, and I like the colorful style they use for the logo, poster, and the ending credits. I think that the visual arts reflect how Suicide Squad is crazy and dangerous with many different characters in it. Since I watched the 3d version, I can also say that the 3d effect done smoothly and pretty nicely.

As for the minus point, of course it is because the members are different from the comic (I know I can’t compare, but I just want to see Poison Ivy). However, the entertaining story makes me forget about that disappointment. Another thing that pretty much annoys me is the character of the Joker. Yes, the Joker. I’m not saying Jared Leto doesn’t work it out. I think Leto is a good actor and he plays his character as an insane villain very well. Still, too bad that I can’t really see Joker in his character. Somehow his appearance is too much and he is an insane villain but not of that Joker’s while Joker has always been one of the most anticipated in the movie so it’s actually a shame and I’m actually glad that he doesn’t get too many scenes in the movie (sorry, but it’s the truth). Yet, as a person who also knows the story in the comic, I can say that this movie is entertaining and definitely worth to watch.
